    I have a few comments…
I usually go up to the window, I never stay at the ordering area. No point for me to be there, so I always go straight to the window. That’s also nice sometimes because they’ll put together my order fast because they have drive-thru times they need to stay under.

When someone starts speaking to me (after gesturing that I’m Deaf), I sign back. They usually get the idea.

I think it is very hypocritical of you to discriminate against people who can’t speak/read English. Perhaps the person has dyslexia or another reading disorder. Is it fair to discriminate against them? You keep saying that only those that can speak English should be hired. Hello!?!? Many Deaf people can’t speak English either!

I’m not trying to insult you, this is just my thoughts and advice :-) I hope you have better success with ordering in the future.

    Wow,

Same thing they wont talk to me if I asked them and I gave them my pen and paper. Same thing. They wont write down a note.

I told them I cannot understand them when they talked too fast and I lost and dont get it.. I asked poliete I am deaf and please write what are you were talked earlier? Still not willing to write down for me what they were saying to me.

    It is outraged behavior.

    Hi, there,

Yeah, I have experienced such like that. These behaviors are unnecessary. Oh, boy! Perhaps we need to educate the hearing in schools to understand us better?

About not reading the order requests, I have heard one from Joey Baer. He was frustrated with this situation. His vlog is Joey Baer’s ASL vlog. You need to look up the recent posts.

Oh, well… that is life, and there is a lot of pet peeves out there, ugh, smile.

[..YouTube..] Next time this happens to you, when he finish talking. You sign back to him until he shut up. Then ask him to write down, if he refuse then speak with his management.

[..YouTube..] Thank you for your critical concerns – I am suggesting you to speak back to those who work at a restaurant anywhere next time when they speak to you again. Nothing is new because they have to learn to deaf with your written communication under the law. If they are stubborn again, please tell them to write or call the manager – even if not, you have to call the restaurant headquarter because they are held solely responsibility to tell them to have a lot of patience with the deaf. Thanks

Just one point–about illiterate employees,…If you look around to see the cashier registers, you will notice most of them have PICTURES as buttons, not words or numbers. BURGER icon, CHEESE icon, TOMATO icon, etc etc… So yes, many fast food chains hire people who are illiterate or functionally illiterate (can fake it without actually being able to read). These people are the ones desperate for the hard jobs and low pay that fast-food restaurants offer. *shrug* That is the way it is in United States business. Oh well.

You should know better then this, bro. You are dealing with people that are hired because they are not able to finish an education or just starting one. You should have either pointed to another employee or sat there till they got another or their boss.
You’re bright, and you are used to working with people that are also smart. You must realize that there are people in this world that are not going to hold to your standard of intelligence.
    msg me sometime!
